the two began -- eye of one of the chimps and the two began a very playful game of copycat there, very cute. the news keeps coming, shawn yancy with the news edge at 11:00. the edge begins with a steroid bust fairfax county. a high school teacher and former football coach arrested. fox 5's wisdom martin joins us now with the story. >> police say through his coaching some students were very familiar with coach reagan and now investigators are familiar with him for allegedly trying to buy steroids. this is former fairfax football coach jeffrey reagan arrested yesterday in a parking lot of this shopping center. police say during an undercover operation he was trying to get steroids from this imagine, jeremy helmy. reagan is charged with possession with interest to distribute steroids. helmy with distribution and conspiracy. reagan started teaching at mountain view alternative in

2007. he was a football coach at secondary school from 2007 to 2011. here's what one parent said about the arrest. >> first of all, it's horrible that a coach would be buying steroids, but also i'd be afraid that that coach would be trying to sell them to students. >> so while this individual did have numerous contacts with students and with teenagers and young people, we don't have direct evidence to link him to either giving or selling any drugs to the students. >> reporter: investigators say he was not currently coaching but was in the process of trying to get a coaching job at west springfield high school. now the school system has suspended reagan without pay until further notice. >> this is not an issue that is alone here in fairfax county. it's not only across the region, but it's certainly into many gymnasiums across country. so it's a time to talk to your kids about the issue. >> you tell your child if your

coach or friends offer you anything, you say no. >> reporter: at helmy's house in leesburg investigators found numerous substances and sent them to the lab and police say it is an ongoing investigation. we are following a developing story in the district tonight. police are still tracking the suspect who shot and killed the beloved northeast business owner. someone shot june lim inside her grace street deli along h street corridor. an employee found the 65-year- old woman early this morning. it's believed someone may have followed her inside as she opened the shop. police suspect robbery was the motive. >> we are attempting to determine what exactly is missing from the establishment. at this time i can't discuss that further. >> lim and her husband have owned grace deli eight years. anyone with information is asked to call d.c. police. the edge on maryland, one of the world's top gaming corporations wants to bring a casino to national harbor. mgm officials met with maryland

legislators today and more meetings are set for tomorrow, but before any decisions are made lawmakers have to agree to allow a sixth casino in the state and that's drawing mixed reviews. >> well, i don't care too much for it because the traffic is bad when they have an event there and they're going to put the outlet on the top of the hill. traffic is going to be bad in this area. they haven't made any adjustments for that and the fact that it will kill rosecroft. >> i think it would be a good idea if it's benefiting the county, if it's bringing money towards the county, if it's helping out the students and the education for the kids of prince george's county, i'm all for it. >> governor martin o'malley and senate leaders are expected to meet with mgm executives tomorrow. this is the first full day of phil mendelson as chairman of the d.c. council. mendelson says he wants to stablize the council instead of making big moves right away. fox 5's matt ackland with more.

>> reporter: no time forrest for phil mendelson. today he juggles three jobs, as chairman, councilmen and dad. he picks up his daughter from school today. >> it was the last day! >> reporter: inside the wilson building there were slight changes taking place, new nameplates installed including outside the chairman's official office, but mendelson says he'll leave the office unoccupied for now and say if at his old at large desk. at-- and stay at his old at large desk. >> i'm trying to send a message i'm not just moving into the office upstairs and settling in. there's some expense in that to the government which means expense to the people. so i'm trying to strike the right balance. >> good morning, office of chairman phil mendelson. >> reporter: mendelson says i doesn't plan to make any big -- he doesn't plan to make any big moves on the council right away. he won't resign committee

graphic testimony today as the final accuser took the stand. he told the jury he spent more than 100 nights in sandusky's home and he was forced to have sex with sandusky in a basement that he thought was soundproof. the now 18-year-old says he also screamed out for help at least once when sandusky's wife was in the house but didn't know if she heard him. the former penn state assistant football coach is charged with 52 criminal accounts of abusing 10 boys over 15 years. sandusky denies the allegations. a disturbing story out of florida tonight, a st. petersburg teacher facing child abuse charges. police say danielle harkins encouraged a handful of student to take part in some sort of demonic cleansing ritual to release the evil spirits from their bodies. part of that ritual included having the kids cut each other and used perfume to fume the so- called branding of a 16-year- old boy.

evangelist when it comes to getting enough vitamin d. he says store bought vitamins and multi-vitamins often fall short. >> the dosing is insufficient and this is key for minnesotans to know. a multi vitamin, it's just better than worthless for achieving a good vitamin d level. >> reporter: it is why he is not at all surprised at the u.s. preventive services task force report that says there is no evidence of typical doses of vitamin d which are 400 international units do anything to either prevent cancer in adults or prevent bone fractures in post menopausal women. >> we agree with him totally because we have been telling our clients this for a long time. >> reporter: darlene kaviss isn't surprised either as owner of nutritional weight and wellness where they sell vitamin e in the 1,000 units of

several risk factors for heart disease. researches are found people drinking three cups of tea for 12 weeks with no milk or sugar had a significant reduction in blood sugar levels and triglycerides 'no. 4, the cost of raising a child is going up again. according to the u.s. department of agriculture's annual report, it will cost $234,900 to raise a child born in 2011 to a middle income family. that cost includes all the necessities that parents pay for in the 17 years before adulthood. no. 3, heads up, honda owners. the automaker is recalling about 50,000 2012 civics. there's a problem with the drive shaft that could lead to a loss of engine power or could cause the car to roll away if the parking brake isn't set. honda will notify civic owners. known 2, improving traffic around the branch -- no. 2, improving traffic around the branch avenue metro station, maryland will spend more than $800 million to provide better

temperature trend the next several days. tomorrow will be like today, especially even in the temperature department. notice the average temperature now is 84 degrees. so for the next three or four days we'll either be below or just touching that average. a couple 81s in the forecast the next couple days, a little warmer father's day sunday and monday about 84 degrees. beyond monday that's when we think things will head for the upper 80s if not 90 degrees and the humidity will probably be back next week. can't keep it at bay forever. it is d.c., right? satellite and radar, a little cloud cover that has been moving in. it's associated with a storm developing off the east coast. we kind of got brushed with some of the decks of clouds especially from 95 on east, a lot of heavy rain down through florida tonight, nothing tropical and then a really severe squall line through the middle part of the country with over 200 reports of wind and hail damage out especially here across nebraska and kansas. that's where the strongest of

the line is. that line is not coming in our direction. it's going to weaken out. we will be continuing to be under the influence of high pressure as we head through the weekend. temperature-wise real comfortal, 72 degrees, dew points in check -- comfortable, 72 degrees, dew points in check in the upper 50s and low 60s, 70 degrees for annapolis, dulles, manassas and gaithersburg. we've got a bit warmer scenario tonight because of the cloud cover around where you get clear spots, a little better chance of that to our west. even across much of the northeast out into the midwest we're not finding anything significantly cooler than what we're dealing with in our own region. overnight temperatures will likely range from the mid-60s and going far enough west you will get down to the upper 50s. close to the bay where clouds are thicker, temperatures may stay in the middle 60s. the tall ships are coming into

baltimore. it's going to be spectacular and the weather is going to cooperate for that and the nats and yankees as high pressure rules the roost over the northeastern part of the united states even into the weekend. tomorrow into saturday we still have a bit of a northeast wind, kind of refreshing. it built up a few clouds. we'll break back into sunshine. it keeps temperatures very moderate. a warm sunny weekend expected for us. temperatures begin climb a little, probably only to 80 flee degrees on sunday and that is still be -- begin to climb a little, probably only to 83 degrees on sunday and that is still below average. temperature in the water 70 degrees, plenty of sunshine at the beaches, but notice the difference in the temperatures compared to what we'll see in the city. of course, that's picking up on the water temperature. as our northeast wind continues for saturday our temperature at the beach 72 degrees. might need a jacket at night for a bit, but certainly will

be refreshing. overnight clouds locally, cooler for the suburbs, 64 degrees, maybe some upper 50s far enough west it. has everything to do with that east wind 5 to 10 miles per hour. we'll still have a northeast breeze tomorrow. we'll have a mix of cloud and sun and comfortable temperatures definitely hanging around. at 8 a.m. a few clouds, 69. it will be real nice at noon, 77 degrees and 80 degrees at 5:00 under partly cloudy skies temperatures around the rest of the region. mostly in the upper 70s to the low 80s tomorrow, a mild end of the work week, a real nice run for us, no doubt about it. on your five-day forecast you can see these comfortable temperatures. next chance of any precipitation, just spotty storms monday and tuesday. we are keeping them off the father's day forecast. happy dad's day in advance to all you great guys out there. that's it for weather, but hey, something the guys love to talk about, golf. that's what lindsay is leading

minicamp and training camp begins the last week of july. >> we haven't had a chance to do that through the last two offseasons. so to be able to spend that time getting to feel comfortable with each other and learn the system and the last four weeks with two weeks of three days with the otas and this week with the minicamps and a week before with four days, it's been a big plus. we've got a lot done and hopefully with a five week vacation they'll come back ready to go. today the wizards held workouts for perspective players for the third straight day in advance of the nba draft june 28th this. guy should look familiar, 6' 8 hollis koch son who decided to forego his -- thompson who decided to forego his senior year at georgetown. bradley beale entered the draft after freshman year at georgia. finally tomorrow the nationals most the yankees. dave ross will be out there at 5:00 and 6:00. the news edge will be right
